Over the last few years there have been countless regulations imposed by the government to deter smoking in restaurants, shopping malls and in some States from smoking in any public places. Along with other nicotine delivery devices such as the electronic cigarettes increasing in popularity, tobacco has seen a downturn in sales within the United States.

Despite all this news the industry is actually experiencing growth due to increases in export to counties such as China that don’t have the same strict regulations.
For those in the US this is welcome news, smoking has been a massive problem for years so any reduction in the numbers of cigarette smoking is a good thing. But what about electronic cigarettes? Are these devices any better? I would say yes, (click here for in depth info) keeping in mind they are intended for existing cigarette smokers they provide a great alternative. Not only do they not have the thousands of carcinogens but they don’t pose a ‘passive smoking’ risk to non smokers.

The fact that Lorillard, one of the ‘Big Tobacco’ companies in the USA, has purchased an e cigarette company says a lot about where they think this emerging market is heading. It will be interesting to come back in 10 years and re-visit not only tobacco farming but also where the new e cig stands as a nicotine delivery product.
